The Gift of Giving

In addition to caregiving, Cha Cha has been involved with helping orphanages of Mexico for almost 25 years. Many years ago Cha Cha began canning jalapeno and strawberry jellies in her home in Costa Mesa, California. She would sell the jellies to friends and neighbors and then use the money to buy things that the orphanage desperately needed. Today she continues the tradition in Cha Cha Café using 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the jellies to helping the orphans.

Whether it is collecting money, blankets, clothing, medicines or food items, she has always devoted a part of her passion to the children. Over 1,000,000 children in Mexico are orphans and the orphanages for the most part are nothing like the orphanages in America. The need for this type of service is staggering here and INCARE’s real mission after helping retired people is helping orphanages. That is why 10% of all INCARE profits go directly to orphanages.

A Special Story

Meet David, of Hogar Infantil La Gloria orphanage, a fifteen year old orphan who was born hydrocephalic and has been blind, deaf and unable to walk. He has been bedridden his entire life. The dream of the orphanage staff was for David to have a special chair that would allow them to take him out of the bed and outdoors. These special chairs are expensive and they couldn’t afford one. Enter INCARE.

Through the kindness and generosity of one of our patient’s children, a chair was purchased and donated to the orphanage for David. Now he has a life that consists of more than his bed and bedroom. Here are some pictures showing Cha Cha when she delivered the chair.

Every Christmas Cha Cha raises money to buy special gifts for all of the orphans of Rancho del Niño Nueva Vida. The children are told to make a “wish list” and Cha Cha sees to it that every child’s wish comes true. These pictures are from last Christmas at the orphanage as Cha Cha delivers the gifts.
